The Bears on Thursday bolstered their receiver position by agreeing to terms with veteran Victor Cruz on a one-year contract.
The 6-foot, 204-pounder spent the first six years of his NFL career with the Giants from 2010-16, catching 303 passes for 4,549 yards and 25 touchdowns while playing in 70 games with 53 starts.

Cruz, 30, joined the Giants as an undrafted free agent out of Massachusetts in 2010 and emerged as a star in 2011, catching 82 passes for 1,536 yards and nine touchdowns for a team that won the Super Bowl.
Cruz continued to excel, recording 86 receptions for 1,092 yards and 10 TDs in 2012 and 73 catches for 998 yards and four TDs in 2013. But his career was then derailed six games into the 2014 season when he tore the patellar tendon in his right knee against the Eagles.
Cruz missed the final 10 games in 2014. He seemed to be on the road to recovery but suffered a calf injury and missed the entire 2015 season. Cruz returned last year, but his production declined. He appeared in 15 games with 12 starts, catching 39 passes for 586 yards and one TD.
Cruz, who was released by the Giants in February, is the third veteran receiver the Bears have signed this offseason, joining Markus Wheaton and Kendall Wright. Returning wideouts include Cameron Meredith, Kevin White, Deonte Thompson, Josh Bellamy and Daniel Braverman.
