The Bears on Monday retained another one of their own free agents, agreeing to a one-year contract with outside linebacker Sam Acho.
In his first season with the Bears last year, Acho recorded 60 tackles, three tackles-for-loss one forced fumble and one fumble recovery while appearing in 15 games with seven starts. He also registered eight tackles on special teams.
Sam Acho contributed on both defense and special teams in his first year with the Bears.
Acho, 27, joined the Bears last year after spending his first four seasons with the Cardinals. A 2011 fourth-round draft pick from Texas, he played in 51 games with 32 starts for Arizona, compiling 86 tackles, 13 sacks, 16 tackles-for-loss, seven forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, three interceptions and eight pass breakups.
As a rookie, Acho played in all 16 games and registered seven sacks, five tackles-for loss and four forced fumbles. After starting all 16 contests in 2012, Acho was limited to three games in 2013 due to a broken leg. He appeared in all 16 games with four starts in 2014, compiling 21 tackles, one sack, one interception and four tackles-for-loss.
Acho is the ninth unrestricted free agent to re-sign with the Bears this month, joining tight ends Zach Miller and Rob Housler, receiver Marc Mariani, cornerbacks Tracy Porter and Sherrick McManis, running back Jacquizz Rodgers, safety Chris Prosinski and defensive lineman Mitch Unrein.
