The Bears' preseason slate in Matt Nagy's first year as head coach will consist of five games against AFC opponents.
After facing the Baltimore Ravens in the Hall of Fame Game Thursday, Aug. 2 in Canton at 7 p.m. (CT), the Bears will visit the Bengals in Cincinnati the weekend of Aug. 9-12 and the Broncos in Denver the weekend of Aug. 16-19.
The Bears will then host the Kansas City Chiefs the weekend of Aug. 23-26 and the Buffalo Bills Thursday night, Aug. 30 at Soldier Field.
The exact dates and times for the final four preseason games will be released at a later date. All four of those contests will be produced and broadcast by the Chicago Bears Network and shown on Fox32 Chicago and stations throughout the Midwest.
Defensive end Akiem Hicks and the Bears will open the preseason Aug. 2 against the Ravens in Canton, Ohio.
All five Bears preseason contests will be broadcast on WBBM Newsradio 780 AM and 105.9 FM featuring Jeff Joniak on play-by-play and Tom Thayer as color analyst.
The Bears and Ravens were selected to play in the Hall of Fame Game because their former star middle linebackers—Brian Urlacher and Ray Lewis, respectively—are being inducted as part of the Hall of Fame's Class of 2018.
Playing a fifth preseason game will give the Bears an extra week of preparation in advance of Nagy's first season as coach.
"With the new staff, it's really good," general manager Ryan Pace said last month at the NFL owners meetings. "The more time that we can have together, especially with a new offense and a young quarterback and a lot of new skill players, I think it's really good. Obviously, the coaches will be mindful of the reps and how all that transpires, but the more time we can have together, the better for us right now."
Last season the Bears went 2-2 in the preseason, winning road games over the Cardinals and Titans while losing home contests to the Broncos and Browns.
This summer marks the first time since 2003 that the Bears have not closed the preseason against the Browns.
The NFL regular-season schedule is expected to be announced later this month. In addition to home and away games against the Lions, Packers and Vikings, the Bears will host the Rams, Patriots, Jets, Seahawks and Buccaneers, and visit the Cardinals, Bills, Dolphins, Giants and 49ers.
