More than 30 players, along with coach Matt Nagy and other members of the organization, will participate in the NFL's 'My Cause My Cleats' initiative Sunday when the Bears take on the Detroit Lions at Soldier Field.
The special cleats will be worn either pre- or in-game and are designed to draw awareness to charitable causes championed by each participating individual.
Some players will be supporting their own organizations, such as the Jimmy Graham Foundation, which aids military veterans and underprivileged youth, and Deon Bush's Doby's Dreams, which operates in Chicago and Miami.
Other players will draw attention to charities tied to issues that have hit close to home. Safety Tashaun Gipson Sr. will support the Alzheimer's Association due to his grandmother suffering from the disease. Receiver Darnell Mooney, who lost his father to leukemia in high school, will support the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Josh Woods will support the Jordan McNair Foundation, named for his college teammate who passed away from heatstroke during a University of Maryland practice in 2018.
