The NFL on Wednesday announced that the Bears-Raiders game in London this season will be played on Sunday, Oct. 6 at the new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
The Week 5 contest will kick off at 6 p.m. in London, which is noon Chicago time.
Tottenham Hotspur Stadium opened earlier this month in north London. It is the home of the Tottenham Hotspur, a soccer team in the English Premier League. The stadium has a capacity of 62,062, nearly identical to Soldier Field (61,500). It will be the first NFL game played at the new facility.
The Bears have previously played two games in London, both at Wembley Stadium. They beat the Cowboys 17-6 in a preseason contest on Aug. 2, 1986 and defeated the Buccaneers 24-18 in a regular-season clash on Oct. 23, 2011.
The NFL already had announced that with the league and the Bears celebrating their 100th seasons in 2019, the Bears will kick off the season by hosting the rival Green Bay Packers on Thursday night, Sept. 5 at Soldier Field.
The rest of the 2019 regular-season schedule will be released at 7 p.m. (CT) Wednesday.
In addition to their already-scheduled games versus the Packers and Raiders, the Bears will host the Lions, Vikings, Chargers, Cowboys, Chiefs, Giants and Saints, and visit the Lions, Packers, Vikings, Broncos, Eagles, Rams and Redskins.
After hosting three sold-out games at Wembley Stadium in consecutive weeks in 2018, the NFL will play four contests in London in 2019, bringing the total number of NFL regular-season games in London to 28 since the series began in 2007.
The other three London matchups in 2019 will feature the Panthers against the Buccaneers Oct. 13, the Bengals versus the Rams Oct. 27 and the Texans against the Jaguars Nov. 3. A fifth international game will be played in Mexico City between the Chiefs and Chargers Nov.
The Jaguars have played one game in London every year since 2013 and are contracted to continue to do so through 2020. With the Panthers and Texans slated to make their first appearances in London this year, the Packers will be the only NFL team that has not played a regular-season contest in London.
