In the seventh round of the draft Saturday, the Bears selected Boise State offensive tackle Charles Leno Jr., a 6-4, 303-pounder who grew up in Oakland, Calif.
After redshirting in 2009 and appearing in 10 games as a reserve in 2010, Leno started all 13 games at right tackle in 2011 and all 26 contests at left tackle in 2012-13.
"We really need a person that has left tackle experience that can provide a quality backup at that position, so that's the roster spot that he'll compete for," said general manager Phil Emery.
