Bears chairman George H. McCaskey and a contingent of about 60 team staffers spent last Friday volunteering their time for an excellent cause.
The group from Halas Hall helped rehab a facility in Chicago's Austin Neighborhood for READI Chicago, an organization that provides employment, cognitive behavioral therapy and support services for at-risk young men, while also helping to reduce violence in the city's most impacted neighborhoods.
The facility at 819 North Leamington will be used by READI participants to take part in cognitive behavioral therapy and professional development work.
The Bears staffers were joined by more than 20 READI participants as well as children from "My Block My Hood My City," an organization that provides youth with an awareness of the world by taking them on explorations focused on STEM, arts and culture, citizenry and volunteerism, health, community development, culinary arts and entrepreneurism.
