They'll face former players in Packers defensive end Julius Peppers Sept. 28 and Nov. 9; Panthers tight end Greg Olsen Oct. 5; Falcons kick returner Devin Hester and guard Gabe Carimi Oct. 12; Vikings defensive end Corey Wootton Nov. 16 and Dec. 28; Buccaneers quarterback Josh McCown and safety Major Wright Nov. 23; and Cowboys defensive tackle Henry Melton Dec. 4.
The Nov. 23 game against Tampa Bay will be a homecoming of sorts for Buccaneers head coach Lovie Smith, who served in the same position with the Bears for nine seasons from 2004-12.
Smith's staff in Tampa includes seven of his former Bears assistants in Kevin O'Dea (special teams), Gill Byrd (cornerbacks), Andrew Hayes-Stoker (receivers), Hardy Nickerson (linebackers), Mike Phair (assistant defensive line), Mikal Smith (safeties) and Tim Spencer (running backs).
Other former Bears assistants who will be facing their former team include Falcons offensive line coach Mike Tice Oct. 12 and Cowboys defensive coordinator Rod Marinelli Dec. 4.
The Bears will also play games against three former players in the 49ers' Jim Harbaugh Sept. 14, the Panthers' Ron Rivera Oct. 5 and the Saints' Sean Payton Dec. 15 as well as one who is a defensive coordinator in the Buccaneers' Leslie Frazier Nov. 23.
