Fans can still register for the 2020 PNC Chicago Bears 5K and Kids Dash that's being held virtually this Friday through Sunday, including a virtual post-race party Sunday featuring guest appearances by coach Matt Nagy, receiver Anthony Miller and former linebacker Lance Briggs. To register, please visit ChicagoBears.com/5k.
From every paid registration for the 2020 PNC Bears Virtual 5K and Kids Dash, $5 will automatically be donated to Bears Care, the team's charitable arm, to support local COVID-19 relief efforts in areas impacted at disproportionately high rates by the pandemic.
"Being a Bears fan means being part of a special community," said Scott Hagel, Bears senior vice president of marketing and communications. "Our recent stay-at-home orders have made it challenging to feel connected at a time when supporting each other has never been more important. Transitioning our 5K race to a virtual format will allow Bears fans across the country to collectively participate in a unique event, celebrating our connection through football. We are proud to team with PNC to give fans a healthy outlet to showcase their Bears pride while raising funds for local communities that have been impacted at disproportionately high rates by COVID-19, due to underlying inequalities in healthcare and access to economic opportunities."
Registered participants will have the opportunity to run the 5K (3.1 miles) and Kids Dash 1K (.62 miles) at any time Friday through Sunday. Walkers are welcome, as there are no pace restrictions. All paid registered 5K runners will be mailed an official race shirt, commemorative Bears finisher medal, Bears-branded race bib and Bears/PNC-branded sweatband, while supplies last.
Kids registered for the Kids Dash will be mailed a finisher medal, Bears-branded race bib and gift from the Chicago Bears Kids Club brought to you by Jewel-Osco, while supplies last. All participants who upload their results to the 2020 PNC Chicago Bears 5K race page at EnMotive.com after registering for and completing the virtual 5K or Kids Dash will receive a digital Finishers Certificate.
"As we navigate these challenging times, this virtual opportunity will help bring Chicagoans together in the spirit of health and wellness and help us to provide essential resources for communities impacted by COVID-19," said Scott Swanson, PNC regional president of Illinois.
Race participants will also have the option to create personal fundraising pages to support Bears Care during the registration process. Bears Care will continue its ongoing commitment to underserved communities, investing 100 percent of participant fundraising in areas impacted at disproportionately high rates by COVID-19. All fundraising efforts will benefit programs that expand safe access for families to food, medication and health supplies during this critical time. Additionally, funds will support new efforts to address underlying inequalities in healthcare and access to economic opportunities, which have long plagued these neighborhoods and their residents. Registered participants who raise $250 or more are eligible for a variety of incentives.
Participants can also register for the free 5K or Kids Dash online at EnMotive.com. These participants can still create personal fundraising pages to support Bears Care and upload their results to receive a digital Finishers Certificate, but will not receive a race packet.
The virtual post-race party Sunday will be hosted by "Inside the Bears" co-host and former Bears defensive tackle Anthony Adams and B96 Morning Show and FOX32's "Bears Unleashed" co-host Gabe Ramirez. The Chicago Bears Drumline brought to you by The Pride Stores will perform and be joined by Staley Da Bear and the Monster Squad brought to you by Planters; Bears team DJ Jay iLLa will also play a set. Racers will have a chance to be featured during the virtual race party. For more information, please visit ChicagoBears.com/5k.
Registration is $45 per person for the 5K. The Kids Dash is $20 per child between ages 5-12.
The PNC Chicago Bears 5K is produced by EnMotive and brought to you by Dr Pepper and Proven IT.
