I've compiled my annual list of what I think are the Bears' top 10 plays of the season.
Given the emergence of Justin Fields as a difference-maker, it's no surprise that the dynamic dual-threat quarterback is featured in nine of the 10 plays – five runs and four passes. I also included four "honorable mention" plays to spread the love.
Honorable mentions
• Montgomery gains 28 yards
In a Sept. 18 contest in Green Bay, running back David Montgomery took a handoff up the middle, made a jump cut to avoid safety Adrian Amos, broke a tackle by linebacker De'Vondre Campbell and faked out safety Darnell Savage to gain 28 yards.
• Herbert races 64 yards
In an Oct. 13 home contest against the Commanders, running back Khalil Herbert took a pitch to the left, broke a tackle by linebacker Jamin Davis and cut back across the field to the right, gaining 64 yards.
• Fields connects with Pettis
In the season opener versus the 49ers, Fields spun away from pressure and scrambled to his left before throwing all the way across the field to a wide-open Dante Pettis, who caught the ball at the 30 and raced into the end zone, escorted by receiver Equanimeous St. Brown, for a 51-yard TD.
• Mooney makes diving catch
In an Oct. 2 road game against the Giants, receiver Darnell Mooney beat tight coverage by cornerback Adoree' Jackson and made an over-the-shoulder diving catch for a 56-yard gain.
(10) Harry soars to haul in long pass
In a Dec. 4 game against the Packers at Soldier Field, Fields scrambled to his left and heaved a deep pass to receiver N'Keal Harry, who leaped high over cornerback Jaire Alexander to snag a 49-yard reception.
(9) Brisker produces one-handed pick
In an Oct. 24 Monday night road win over the Patriots, rookie safety Jaquan Brisker made a sensational one-handed interception of a Mac Jones pass intended for tight end Jonnu Smith along the sideline.
(8) Kmet makes one-handed grab
In a Nov. 20 contest versus the Falcons in Atlanta, tight end Cole Kmet made a tremendous one-handed catch of a Fields pass down the seam, holding onto the ball despite being hit by cornerback A.J. Terrell.
(7) Fields connects with Pettis
In an Oct. 13 Thursday night home game against the Commanders, Pettis made a spectacular over-the-shoulder catch of a Fields pass for a 40-yard touchdown, tiptoeing just inbounds in the end zone.
(6) A Bear outruns Lions
In a Nov. 13 home contest versus the Lions, Fields faked a handoff on a read-option play, raced up the middle and outran former Ohio State teammate Jeff Okudah, a Detroit cornerback, for a career-long 67-yard TD run.
(5) Déjà vu all over again
Three weeks after his long run against the Lions, Fields scored a similar TD versus the Packers. On another read-option play, the Bears quarterback faked out cornerback Keisean Nixon and raced up the middle for a 55-yard TD.
(4) Fields dashes for 61-yard TD
In a Nov. 6 home game versus the Dolphins, Fields scrambled up the middle, pump-faked a pass, broke tackles by linebackers Duke Riley and Jerome Baker and raced to the end zone for a 61-yard TD.
(3) Mooney skies to make catch
In an Oct. 9 road game against the Vikings, Mooney leaped high over cornerback Chandon Sullivan and made an acrobatic one-handed catch of a Fields pass.
(2) Fields scores remarkable TD
In a Nov. 13 contest versus the Lions, Fields scrambled three steps to his left, reversed field to his right and shook off defensive lineman Isaiah Buggs, then raced around left end, trucking a defender as he powered into the end zone for a 1-yard TD.
(1) Fields weaves through Eagles D
In a Dec. 18 home game against the Eagles, Fields somehow twisted out of the grasp of top pass rusher Hasson Reddick and took off up field. Fields eluded linebacker T.J. Edwards and spun away from cornerback James Bradberry en route to the end zone. Unfortunately, Fields stepped out of bounds at the 9, but that didn't detract from his effort on a spectacular 39-yard run.
