Chalk Talk: How have Bears fared versus Cousins?

Wondering about a player, a past game or another issue involving the Bears? Senior writer Larry Mayer answers a variety of questions from fans on ChicagoBears.com.

How have the Bears fared in the past against Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins?
Steve W.
Hinsdale, Illinois

Since joining the Vikings in 2018, Kirk Cousins has made five starts against the Bears, completing 67.7 percent of his passes for 1,190 yards with seven touchdowns, four interceptions and an 88.8 passer rating. The Bears have won four of the five games, recording victories of 25-20 and 24-10 in 2018, 16-6 in 2019 and 33-27 in 2020. Their only loss came by the score of 19-13 last season. Cousins was 2-0 versus the Bears as Washington's starter, passing for 570 yards with two TDs and one interception in victories of 24-21 in 2015 and 41-21 in 2016.

Do you agree Bears should go cornerback with their first pick in the 2022 draft?
Mark L.
Rockford, Illinois

Of course, it depends on who's available at that pick and to what extent the Bears have addressed the position in free agency, which comes before the draft. But it certainly would be difficult to disagree that cornerback is perhaps the Bears' most pressing need. The lack of a second dependable, consistent contributor at that position behind Jaylon Johnson has been more than evident throughout the season.

Who was the last team the Bears hosted at Wrigley Field?
Donn D.
Quinton, Virginia

Fittingly, the last team the Bears hosted at Wrigley Field was their long-time rival, the Packers. The Bears concluded 50 seasons with Wrigley Field as their home Dec. 13, 1970. Quarterback Jack Concannon had the best day of his 10-year NFL career, passing for 338 yards and four touchdowns (15, 42, 25 and 6 yards) and running for a fifth score (15 yards) in a 35-17 victory over Green Bay. George Farmer caught nine passes for 142 yards and one TD and Dick Gordon had seven receptions for 92 yards and two touchdowns. The Bears relocated to Soldier Field in 1971.
