Who have been some recent players selected with the 87th pick in the draft that the Bears own, and how have they fared in the NFL?

The last 10 players chosen with the 87th pick in the draft have been Raiders defensive end Arden Key (2018), Giants quarterback Davis Webb (2017), Bengals linebacker Nick Vigil (2016), Steelers receiver Sammie Coates (2015), Chiefs cornerback Phillip Gaines (2014), Seahawks defensive tackle Jordan Hill (2013), Browns defensive tackle John Hughes (2012), Colts defensive tackle Drake Nevis (2011), Broncos receiver Eric Decker (2010) and Dolphins receiver Patrick Turner (2009). Decker has been the best player in that group by far; he caught 439 passes for 5,816 yards and 53 touchdowns in eight NFL seasons with the Broncos (2010-13), Jets (2015-16) and Titans (2017). Key and Vigil have both become regular starters with their respective teams, but none of the other seven players picked at No. 87 over the past 10 years has ever started more than six games in a season.

I know that the Bears traded first-round draft picks to acquire Jay Cutler in 2009 and Khalil Mack in 2018. Have the Bears ever traded one of their players to another team in exchange for a first-round choice?

It's happened twice in the Super Bowl era, but not for more than 30 years. The Bears traded receiver Willie Gault to the Los Angeles Raiders in July 1988 for a first-round pick in 1989 that they spent on cornerback Donnell Woolford at No. 11. The Bears also received a 1990 third-round selection that they used to choose quarterback Peter Tom Willis. Prior to that, the Bears traded defensive tackle Wally Chambers to the Buccaneers in April 1978 for a first-round pick in 1979 that they spent on defensive lineman Dan Hampton at No. 4. The Bears also received tight end Bob Moore in the deal.

Given Adam Shaheen's lack of production in his first two seasons, do you think the Bears will pick a tight end in this year's draft?

I'm not sure whether the Bears will pick a tight end in the draft, but I can tell you that they still believe in Adam Shaheen. The 2017 second-round pick was performing well last summer in training camp before he sustained injuries to his right foot and right ankle in a preseason win over the Broncos that ultimately forced him to miss the first nine games last season. Here's what general manager Ryan Pace said this week during his pre-draft press conference about Shaheen: "We felt like he was playing very well last year, and then, unfortunately, he got hurt in the preseason. We still feel his arrow's up. He showed up to the offseason program in phenomenal shape. He's still a young player. We're still very confident in Shaheen."
