Why was Anthony Miller penalized for spinning the ball after his catch against the Lions? I see receivers do that same thing and not get a flag.

An official told the Bears that Anthony Miller drew a 15-yard penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct late in Sunday's win over the Lions because the rookie receiver spun the ball directly at the feet of a Lions defender. But upon further review, Miller was more unlucky than guilty of taunting on the play. Said coach Matt Nagy: "When you slow-motion and look at it, when he spun it, he spun it straight down, and it bounced off his knee and went to the opponent." Asked what action he would take with Miller, Nagy said: "You teach him the 'why.' You teach him, 'Hey, listen, this is what can happen, just don't spin the football—or get better at doing it." 

Did the Bears continue to rotate their guards against the Lions?

No, they didn't. Rookie James Daniels played the entire game at left guard, but Bryan Witzmann also played all 57 offensive snaps at right guard. It was the first time this season that veteran Eric Kush was active and did not either start or rotate into the game. Here's how coach Matt Nagy explained the decision: "That was a choice that both [offensive line coach] Harry [Hiestand] and I discussed, and we just felt comfortable with [Witzmann]. With 'Witz' being new and coming here, we wanted to give him a good opportunity of seeing what he could do, and we thought he did a good job [while splitting reps with Kush the previous week against the Bills]. We'll just continue to keep a close eye on that and evaluate that each week."

Are the Bears planning on trying out new kickers after Cody Parkey hit the goal post four times against the Lions?

As you'd expect, I received a lot of emails about Cody Parkey's performance Sunday at Soldier Field and his future in Chicago. Coach Matt Nagy said after the game that there was "zero chance" the Bears would audition kickers this week and he reiterated that stance Monday at Halas Hall. Nagy also said that there's "a possibility" that Parkey would go to Soldier Field to kick one day during the week, something that he has not been doing. Personally, I've never seen anything like Sunday. One of the Chicago Sun-Times writers, Patrick Finley, did some research that showed that Bears kickers hit the goal post four times over the previous 61 games before Parkey did it in one afternoon Sunday. I think you could probably live to be 500 years old and never see that again.
