Wondering about a player, a past game or another issue involving the Bears? Senior writer Larry Mayer answers a variety of email questions from fans on ChicagoBears.com.
How has Pernell McPhee looked so far in training camp? I'm excited about his potential with the Bears.

Steamboat Springs, Colorado
I'd put outside linebacker Pernell McPhee at or near the top of the list of players who've impressed me most so far in Bourbonnais. Especially since the pads came on Saturday, the 6-3, 275-pounder has been a beast who's been unblockable at times in one-on-one drills. I really think his performance on the field and his mentality will endear him to Bears fans this season. Asked about McPhee, coach John Fox said: "He's a big powerful man. A lot of the time he's over the tight end and that's a good match-up for us with most tight ends. There are a lot of ways to rush the passer—it's not just all speed—and he's got a good combination of speed and quickness in short areas as well as power."
Has David Fales returned to practice yet? We're big fans of his here in California.
Steve N.
San Francisco, California
No, quarterback David Fales remains on the non-football illness list with an undisclosed illness. (The 2014 sixth-round draft pick is eligible to be removed from the NFI list and begin practicing as soon as he's medically cleared.) Asked about Fales on Sunday, coach John Fox said: "It's an illness where the doctors don't want him moving around a whole bunch until he heals. I can't predict exactly when he is going to be out there, but he's progressing as expected."
How many points does Robbie Gould need to become the Bears' all-time leading scorer?
Andy L.
Bloomington, Illinois
Robbie Gould needs 36 points to eclipse Kevin Butler's Bears record of 1,116 points. Interestingly, Gould and Butler are tied for the most field goals in franchise history with 243.
