Ex-Bears guard Ted Karras, a member of the 1963 NFL championship team, passed away Tuesday. He was 81.

Karras played five of his nine NFL seasons with the Bears from 1960-64, starting at left guard for the 1963 squad that beat the Giants 14-10 at Wrigley Field to win the league title.
The Indiana University product appeared in a total of 108 NFL games, also playing for the Steelers (1958-59), Lions (1965) and Rams (1966).
Karras was born in Gary, Ind., on Jan. 31, 1934. He was the older brother of the late Lions star defensive tackle and actor Alex Karras. Ted Karras is survived by his wife, Anna; sons: Ted Jr., Tony and Jeffery; and six grandchildren.
