Former Bears defensive end John Thierry passed away Friday night. He was 46.
Thierry was selected by the Bears with the 11th pick in the 1994 draft out of Alcorn State. He appeared in 73 games with 28 starts over five seasons, recording 12.5 sacks, one interception and four fumble recoveries—three of which came in a 1995 win over the Oilers.

One of his former teammates, offensive lineman Marcus Spears, posted on Instagram that Thierry passed away after suffering a massive heart attack.
After leaving the Bears, Thierry played in 68 games with 42 starts over four seasons with the Browns (1999), Packers (2000-01) and Falcons (2002), registering 21 sacks, one interception and three fumble recoveries.
