Bears equipment manager Tony Medlin received the Virginia McCaskey Award from Mrs. McCaskey Thursday at Halas Hall.

The prestigious award is given to a Bears employee who has demonstrated the characteristics and values of Mrs. McCaskey: grace, humility, loyalty and dedication. The winner also is someone who not only exceeded the highest standards of achievement, but whose work set him or her apart from co-workers.

Medlin is entering his 31st season with the Bears and 21st as equipment manager. He's responsible for coordinating all team equipment operations including logistics, purchasing and inventory for all players, coaches and staff.

He joined the Bears in 1987 as an equipment assistant and was promoted to equipment manager in 1997. His numerous charitable endeavors are highlighted by his role as the chairman of the annual Bears Coat Drive, which collects thousands of coats during the holiday season.

The two previous winners of the Virginia McCaskey Award were executive assistant Katie Nagle in 2015 and senior vice president of sales and customer relations Lee Twarling in 2016.
