Bears general manager Ryan Pace discussed key issues on the WBBM Newsradio 780 AM and 105.9 FM pre-game show before Sunday's game against the Buffalo Bills.
On win over Jets:
"Good win. I thought, you know all week [Bears coach Matt Nagy] had talked about being aggressive, and finishing, and playing well at home. I felt like we accomplished all three. So good win for us, especially in front of our hometown fans."
On right guard Kyle Long's status after suffering a right foot injury last week:
"Obviously a great player, he's playing at a high level, so we're optimistic about his recovery, so you know Kyle, he'll attack it in the same manner that he attacks the way he plays, with a lot of passion and we feel good about."
On how Long had been playing:
"He's playing good. I think he fits very well into this offense. I think [offensive line coach] Harry Hiestand has done an unbelievable job with him, and he's just got that great balance, playing with good technique, but also playing with a lot of aggression and passion."
On depth on offensive line:
"We feel good about the depth in that room, and credit to Harry and [assistant offensive line coach Donovan Raiola] developing some of those guys. They've done a good job with that group. We've talked about this a lot. We like the versatility, especially with our inside players we can move guys around if we need to, and that's good for us going forward."
On status of linebacker Khalil Mack and receiver Allen Robinson II:
"So both of those guys are doing really well. We feel really good about the direction they're heading, and again, it's just a balance for us, as far as being smart as a club, as far as where they're at, but we feel good about the path they're on and where that's heading."
On quarterback Mitchell Trubisky and his accuracy:
"I think there are so many things that go into accuracy when you're talking about the quarterback, and I think the more reps you get in the system, with the system itself but also the receivers and the targets you're throwing to, accuracy improves in time, and Mitch is a naturally accurate thrower, and we're just working through that development."
On Nagy being mic'd up during Jets game:
"I laughed because that's something we see everyday. That's just Matt's personality. He's got a unique personality in that he's authentic but he's very passionate. I'm glad our fans got to see a glimpse of him on the sidelines and how he interacts with the players, because we're fortunate to have him as our coach."
On playing the Bills in Buffalo:
"First of all it's a tough environment to play in. I know Matt's touched on that. They're a well-coached team. The defense is sixth in the NFL and top 10 in a lot of categories. Offense has got some playmakers, two running backs that really complement each other well. I was with [Bills running back Chris Ivory] in New Orleans [with the Saint], and he can be a sledge hammer, and obviously [Bills running back LeSean McCoy] is a weapon. So it's a tough environment and we better come ready to play."
On Bills cornerback Tre'Davious White:
"First-round pick last year, made an immediate impact. And the thing that's always stood out about him, even at LSU, was his instincts. He's always around the football. He's got good ball skills. He's extremely competitive too, just the way he plays. He's aggressive in man coverage. He'll get up and press you. I think he's just a good overall solid player, and a big part of a good defense."
