The Bears on Sunday signed the following 16 players to their practice squad:
Quarterback Tyler Bray
Running back Artavis Pierce
Receiver Reggie Davis
Cornerback Stephen Denmark
Receiver Thomas Ives
Receiver Rodney Adams
Tight end Jesper Horsted
Offensive lineman Sam Mustipher
Offensive lineman Jamon Brown
Offensive lineman Lachavious Simmons
Offensive lineman Badara Traore
Defensive tackle Abdullah Anderson
Defensive end LaCale London
Linebacker Rashad Smith
Safety Xavier Crawford
Kicker Cairo Santos
Fifteen of the 16 players were waived or released by the Bears Saturday as part of final cuts. The only exception is Brown, who was released by the Falcons Aug. 24. The 6-4, 340-pounder has appeared in 60 games with 47 starts over five NFL seasons with the Rams (2015-18), Giants (2018) and Falcons (2019).
The new Collective Bargaining Agreement that was reached between the NFL and NFL Players Association in March would have allowed teams to establish a 12-man practice squad, with two players having unlimited NFL experience. But because of COVID-19, those numbers were increased for this season only to a 16-man practice squad, with six having unlimited experience.
