The Chicago Bears announced that the club has placed offensive lineman Braxton Jones on Reserve/Injured.
Additionally, the Bears have elevated defensive lineman Marcus Davenport and defensive back Nick McCloud from the practice squad for Sunday's game against the New York Jets. Davenport and McCloud are standard practice squad gameday elevations and, per NFL regulation, will revert back to the club's practice squad after the game.
Davenport joined the Bears as a practice squad signing prior to the start of the regular season. An eight-year NFL veteran, Davenport has appeared in 77 career regular-season games (44 starts), amassing 25.0 sacks, 71 quarterback hits and seven forced fumbles over his career. A PFWA All-Rookie Team selection in 2018 after being selected in the first round (14th overall) by New Orleans, Davenport spent his first five professional seasons with the Saints (2018-22) before joining the Minnesota Vikings in 2023, then the Detroit Lions in 2024, where he contributed the last two seasons (2024-25). Davenport has amassed 165 career total tackles in the regular season (88 solo).
McCloud returned to Chicago in 2026, signing to the club's practice squad prior to Week 3. McCloud has appeared in 62 career regular-season games (20 starts), including 15 appearances (four starts) last season for Chicago. McCloud started in the secondary for the Bears in Chicago's NFC Wild Card Round win over Green Bay last season. Since entering the league as an undrafted free agent with the Buffalo Bills in 2021, McCloud has also spent time with the San Francisco 49ers (2024), New York Giants (2022-24) and Cincinnati Bengals (2021). Over his career, McCloud has accumulated 110 total tackles (78 solo), 12 passes defensed, one interception, three tackles for loss, including 1.5 sacks, as well as three forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries.
