The Bears marched the length of the field on the game's opening possession before Jay Cutler was intercepted in the end zone by Browns safety Tashaun Gipson.

The victory in Cleveland gave the Bears (8-6) sole possession of first place in the NFC North, pending the outcome of Monday night's game between the Lions (7-6) and Ravens.

After missing four games with a high ankle sprain, Jay Cutler returned to complete 22 of 31 passes for 265 yards with three TDs, two interceptions and a 102.2 passer rating.

The Bears defense held Browns receiver Josh Gordon to 67 yards. Gordon entered the contest leading the NFL with 1,400 yards, including a league-record 774 yards in his four previous games.

The Bears run defense, which ranked last in the NFL after allowing an average of 204 yards in its previous seven games, held the Browns to 93 yards on the ground.

Matt Forte rushed for a season-high 127 yards, helping the Bears compile 179 yards on the ground, their highest total of the year.

Jay Cutler excelled on third down, completing 11 of 12 passes for 152 yards and two touchdowns.

With Zack Bowman's interception return, the Bears have now won 12 straight games and 26 of 28 since 2005 when scoring a defensive touchdown.
