Jennifer King enters her first year as offensive assistant - running backs for the Bears. She is the first female coach in Chicago Bears history and brings four years of NFL coaching experience, all with the Commanders franchise. Most recently, King spent the 2021-23 seasons as assistant running backs coach after spending the 2020 season as a coaching intern working primarily with the offensive staff. With the promotion, King became the first African American female assistant position coach in NFL history.
In 2022, King assisted a running back unit that rushed for over 100 yards 11 times and recorded 125 first downs on the ground.
In 2021, King helped Antonio Gibson rush for over 1,000 yards, becoming the first time a Washington running back to accomplish the feat since Adrian Peterson did so in 2018. Due to Covid-19 protocols, King became the first African American woman in NFL history to serve as a primary position coach in Week 15 against the Philadelphia Eagles. She also became the first woman to serve as a positional coach in the East-West Shrine Bowl.
As a full-year coaching intern in 2020, King worked with the offensive staff throughout the course of the offseason, training camp and regular season and specifically assisted Randy Jordan with the running backs.
Prior to arriving in Washington, King spent 12 seasons as a player. She was a seven-time All-American quarterback and wide receiver for the Carolina Phoenix women's tackle football team from 2006-17.
King holds a master's of science in sports administration from Liberty University and holds a bachelor of science in sports management from Guilford College.
