Kyle DeVan joins the Bears in 2025 as Assistant Offensive Line Coach.
DeVan, a former NFL offensive lineman who started at right guard for the Indianapolis Colts in Super Bowl XLIV, has spent over a decade coaching offensive fronts, most recently leading the offensive line at his alma mater, Oregon State University (2024).
Last season, DeVan led an offensive front featuring Gerad Lichtenhan, who was named the top offensive lineman in the conference, and Joshua Gray, who was selected to play in the East-West Shrine Bowl. DeVan's group helped the Beavers start the 2024 slate with four victories in their first five outings.
Prior to returning to Corvallis, DeVan spent one season as the associate head coach / offensive line / run-game coordinator at Charlotte (2023). With DeVan's leadership, the 49ers would go on to average over 145 rushing yards per game in 2023, as offensive lineman Kevin Williams earned All-American Athletic Conference recognition.
Before Charlotte, DeVan led the offensive line at the University of Colorado, where his front allowed just 23 sacks on the season, the second-fewest sacks allowed by any team in the conference.
DeVan spent one season as an offensive analyst at the University of Michigan (2021), working with the offensive line. With DeVan's aid, the Wolverines offensive front earned the Joe Moore Award, which is presented annually to the nation's top offensive line, helping pave the way for the program's first College Football Playoff berth, finishing the season ranked No. 3 in the nation. In 2021, all five regular starting offensive linemen for Michigan finished the season with All-Big Ten Conference honors.
Prior to Michigan, DeVan had a two-year tenure as run game coordinator / offensive line coach at the University of Arizona (2019-20). DeVan led the offensive line and coordinated the run game for the Wildcats, as the unit averaged over 170 yards per game rushing in 2019, third-best in the conference. DeVan's first opportunity to lead an offensive line group occurred in 2016 at Ball State University, a role he would hold for three seasons (2016-18), adding assistant head coach responsibilities for the final two seasons.
Following his playing career, DeVan entered the coaching ranks at Oregon State in 2013, working with the tight ends group as a graduate assistant, before spending one season at the University of Southern California (2014) and serving as assistant offensive line coach with the New Orleans Saints in 2015.
DeVan appeared in 40 regular-season games (26 starts), as well as four postseason starts, along the offensive front for the Indianapolis Colts (2009-10), Philadelphia Eagles (2011) and Tennessee Titans (2012) after entering the league as an undrafted free agent with Washington in 2008. A four-year letter-winning offensive lineman at Oregon State (2004-07), DeVan capped his tenure with the Beavers with three All-Pac-10 Conference recognitions, earning second-team honors in 2006. Oregon State went 38-24 over his tenure in Corvallis, appearing in four bowl games. DeVan was twice nominated for the Rimington Trophy, which is awarded to the top center in college football.
A native of Vacaville, Calif., DeVan and his wife, Erin, are parents to two children – Bode and Lola.
