The Chicago Bears on Wednesday announced the additions of Reshard Langford and Mark Philippi in assistant strength and conditioning capacities.
Langford joins the Bears after most recently serving as a strength and conditioning coach for the United States Tennis Association (USTA) since 2018, working with the world's top professional tennis players. Prior to USTA, Langford spent two seasons with the Minnesota Vikings, aiding the club's strength and conditioning operation. Langford earned his bachelor's degree from Vanderbilt University, furthering his education at Indiana University, where he received an MBA in 2022. Before his four-season NFL tenure, which included time spent with the Philadelphia Eagles (2009), Kansas City Chiefs (2009-11) and Detroit Lions (2012), Langford was a team captain and four-year starter at safety for Vanderbilt, appearing in 48 career games for the Commodores and earning Southeastern Conference All-Freshman honors in 2005.
Philippi, winner of America's Strongest Man in 1997 and a seven-time World's Strongest Man qualifier, adds over three decades of strength and conditioning acumen to Chicago's staff. Since 2007, Philippi owned and directed performance training at Philippi Sports Institute in Las Vegas, a comprehensive sports performance facility with clientele ranging from world-championship and Olympic Gold Medal competitors to developing athletes. Prior to opening Philippi Sports Institute, Philippi spent 15 years as the director of strength and conditioning for UNLV Athletics, overseeing sports performance programs for over 400 athletes each year, while also aiding in the development of UNLV's kinesiology department. Prior to competitive weightlifting, which included a first-place finish at the 1996 World Drug-Free Powerlifting Championships, Philippi played offensive line at Montana Tech.
