One day after agreeing to acquire defensive lineman Darrell Taylor in a trade with the Seahawks, the Bears made another deal Saturday that addressed the same position group.
They acquired defensive tackle Chris Williams and a 2025 seventh-round pick from the Browns in exchange for a sixth-round selection they obtained from the Dolphins last season in return for receiver Chase Claypool.
Williams has appeared in 13 NFL games over two seasons with the Colts in 2021-22, all as a reserve, registering six tackles. The 6-2, 302-pounder entered the league with Indianapolis in 2020 as an undrafted free agent from Wagner when Bears coach Matt Eberflus was the team's defensive coordinator.
Williams spent parts of last season on the practice squads of the Chiefs and Browns.
