The Bears on Tuesday claimed cornerback Justin Layne off waivers from the Giants.
Layne was selected by the Steelers in the third round of the 2019 draft out of Michigan State. He appeared in 43 games, all as a reserve, including all 16 in 2020 and all 17 in 2021. He was waived by Pittsburgh during final cuts this year and claimed by the Giants the next day. The 6-2, 192-pounder played in seven contests with the Giants—including their Week 4 win over the Bears—before being waived Monday.
