The Bears on Saturday promoted rookie receiver Dazz Newsome from the practice squad to the active roster in advance of Sunday's season finale in Minnesota.
The sixth-round pick from North Carolina spent most of the season on the practice squad before making his NFL debut Dec. 20 in a loss to the Vikings at Soldier Field.
A week later, Newsome caught one pass for 10 yards and returned a punt 28 yards to set up a touchdown in a 25-24 comeback win over the Seahawks in Seattle.
He may get more opportunities on both offense and special teams Sunday, given that receiver/return specialist Jakeem Grant Sr. was placed on injured reserve this week.
