The Bears on Tuesday traded running back Khalil Herbert to the Bengals in exchange for a 2025 seventh-round draft pick.
Herbert is in his fourth NFL season after the Bears selected him in the sixth round of the 2021 NFL Draft out of Virginia Tech. The veteran appeared in five games for the team this season, recording eight carries for 16 yards.
In his 48 games with the Bears, Herbert tallied 1,791 rushing yards on 372 carries and nine touchdowns. Herbert also caught 45 passes for 291 yards and two scores.
Herbert also served as a kick returner for the Bears, mainly as a rookie in 2021, where he returned 27 kicks for 650 yards. This season, Herbert fielded one kickoff, returning it for 28 yards.
The Bears now have the following eight picks in the 2025 NFL Draft:
Round 1
Round 2
Round 2 (Panthers)
Round 3
Round 5
Round 6 (Steelers - conditional)
Round 7 (Browns)
Round 7 (Bengals)
The Bears obtained a 2025 second-round pick as part of a blockbuster trade with the Panthers. They sent the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 draft to Carolina in exchange for receiver DJ Moore and four picks that resulted in the selections of right tackle Darnell Wright, cornerback Tyrique Stevenson, quarterback Caleb Williams and punter Tory Taylor.
They moved their 2025 fourth-round choice as part of a trade with the Bills to move into the fifth round of last year's draft and select defensive end Austin Booker. They traded their own 2025 sixth-round choice to the Seahawks for defensive end Darrell Taylor in August, but acquired a pair of 2025 sixth-round choices in trades with the Dolphins for receiver Chase Claypool last October and the Steelers for quarterback Justin Fields in March. The pick from the Steelers could become a fourth-round selection based on Fields' playing time. They traded the Dolphins' pick to the Browns in August in exchange for defensive tackle Chris Williams and a 2025 seventh-round selection.
The NFL trade deadline is 3 p.m. CT Tuesday.
