The Bears on Saturday elevated receiver Nsimba Webster and tight end Jake Tonges from the practice squad to the active roster in advance of Sunday's home game against the Eagles.
Webster has spent most of the last two seasons on the Bears practice squad after being claimed off waivers Sept. 1, 2021 from the 49ers. He appeared in six games last season, all as a reserve. He played one snap on offense and 59 on special teams, returning four punts for 13 yards.
Webster originally entered the NFL in 2019 with the Rams as an undrafted free agent from Eastern Washington. He appeared in 21 games, primarily on special teams, in 2019 and 2020 for Los Angeles, averaging 6.3 yards on 32 punt returns and 22.4 yards on 18 kickoff returns.
Webster spent training camp with the 49ers in 2021 but was waived as part of final cuts.
Tonges signed with the Bears this year as an undrafted free agent from California. He has appeared in three games as a rookie, all as a reserve, playing 16 snaps on offense and four on special teams.
