Ahead of Sunday's game in Tampa, the Bears flexed offensive tackle Aviante Collins from the practice squad to the active roster and downgraded right guard Nate Davis and cornerback Josh Blackwell to out on the injury report. Blackwell and Davis were both originally listed as doubtful, but were downgraded Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning, respectively. Neither Davis nor Blackwell traveled with the team to Tampa.
Collins has appeared in seven NFL games with one start with the Vikings (2017-20) and Cowboys (2021-22). He entered the league with Minnesota as an undrafted free agent from TCU. Collins signed with the Bears July 26, was released as part of final cuts and then joined the practice squad.
With Davis unable to play against the Buccaneers, the Bears could turn to second-year pro Ja'Tyre Carter, who is listed as the backup at both guard positions on the depth chart. The 2022 seventh-round pick from Southern appeared in three contests, all as a reserve, last year as a rookie.
