The Bears on Friday placed two more players on the reserve/COVID-19 list, quarterback Andy Dalton and nickel back Duke Shelley.
They now have 13 players on the list, all having landed there this week: Defensive end Mario Edwards Jr. Monday; nose tackle Eddie Goldman, cornerback Artie Burns and practice squad outside linebacker Sam Kamara Tuesday; right tackle Larry Borom Wednesday; and receiver Allen Robinson II, safety Eddie Jackson, tight end Jesse James, linebacker Joel Iyiegbuniwe, running back Ryan Nall and practice squad receiver Isaiah Coulter Thursday.
Dalton was unable to practice Thursday due to a left hand injury he suffered Dec. 5 against the Cardinals. Shelley, meanwhile, returned to practice Thursday for the first time since he sustained a hamstring injury Nov. 21 versus the Ravens. The Bears have three weeks to activate Shelley from injured reserve.
There was some good health news Friday: Seven players who sat out Thursday's practice due to non-COVID illnesses were full participants in Friday's workout. The group consists of running backs David Montgomery and Khalil Herbert, tight ends Cole Kmet and Jesper Horsted, receiver Jakeem Grant Sr., guard James Daniels and tackle Teven Jenkins.
