The Bears on Friday placed receiver Dante Pettis on injured reserve and waived/injured receiver Joe Reed.
In his first season with the Bears last year, Pettis appeared in all 17 games with seven starts, catching 19 passes for 245 yards and three touchdowns and averaging 9.1 yards on 18 punt returns.
Prior to joining the Bears, Pettis played in 33 games with 12 starts in four seasons with the 49ers (2018-20) and Giants (2020-21), catching 52 passes for 739 yards and nine TDs and averaging 3.2 yards on 13 punt returns.
Reed signed with the Bears in January. He was selected by the Chargers in the fifth round of the 2020 draft out of Virginia, appeared in 11 games as a rookie – all as a reserve – and averaged 20.7 yards on 21 kickoff returns.
