Top 10: Biggest fantasy games in Bears history
As fantasy football season draws near, we take a look at the games that would have yielded the most points for rosters featuring Bears players.

As a rookie, Ditka caught nine passes for 190 yards and three touchdowns against the Green Bay Packers.

9. Walter Payton: Oct. 2, 1977 - 37.3 points
Payton torched the New Orleans Saints on the ground (140 yards, two touchdowns) and in the air (53 yards, one touchdown) in what would only be his second-best game that season.

8. Gale Sayers - Oct. 17, 1965 - 37.78 points
Sayers accounted for 127 combined yards running and receiving as well as three total touchdowns during a win in Minnesota over the Vikings. He also completed a 27-yard pass in the victory.

7. Walter Payton: Dec. 16, 1979 - 38.0 points
Payton tore through the St. Louis Cardinals defense, rushing for 153 yards and three touchdowns.

6. Bobby Douglass: Nov. 4, 1973 - 38.72 points
As a dual threat quarterback, Douglass had a pedestrian day throwing the ball (10-15, 118 yards), but dominated the Green Bay Packers on the ground (100 yards, four touchdowns).

5. Josh McCown: Dec. 13, 2013 - 39.52 points
Starting in place of an injured Jay Cutler, McCown threw for 348 yards and four touchdowns, and added a rushing touchdown, in a Monday night victory over the Dallas Cowboys.

4. Defense: Nov. 17, 1985 – 40.0 points
The legendary defense hit its fantasy peak by shutting out the Dallas Cowboys 44-0, recording six sacks and four interceptions—two of which were returned for touchdowns by Richard Dent and Mike Richardson.

3. Walter Payton: Nov. 13, 1977 - 40.1 points
In the midst of a career-best season, Payton rushed for 192 yards and three touchdowns to pull the Bears to victory against the Kansas City Chiefs.

2. Mitchell Trubisky: Sept. 30, 2018 - 43.46 points
At the end of his first month playing for coach Matt Nagy, Trubisky exploded for 354 yards and six touchdowns in a win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Soldier Field. He also added 53 yards on the ground.

1. Gale Sayers: Dec. 12, 1965 - 56.2 points
In the penultimate game of his rookie season, Sayers only touched the ball 11 times on offense against the San Francisco 49ers, but five resulted in touchdowns. Sayers also added a punt return score, giving him six total TDs and tying an NFL record, though that play would be credited to the defense/special teams for fantasy purposes.
