In the wake of David Montgomery's 80-yard TD run on the Bears' first play against the Texans, senior writer Larry Mayer ranks the Bears' top 10 fastest starts he's witnessed.

(10) Bears show scary side on Halloween
Craig Krenzel's 49-yard TD pass to Bernard Berrian on the Bears' second play from scrimmage gave them a 7-0 lead less than two minutes into a 23-13 win over the 49ers Oct. 31, 2004 on Sunday Night Football at Soldier Field.

(9) Team effort lifts Bears to rout
The Bears offense, defense and special teams combined to score four touchdowns in a 5:11 span of the first quarter to take a 28-2 lead en route to a 51-20 trouncing of the Titans Nov. 4, 2012 in Tennessee.

(8) Berrian puts Bears ahead of Pack
Rex Grossman capped the Bears' first possession of the 2006 NFC championship season with a 49-yard TD strike to Bernard Berrian in a 26-0 drubbing of the Packers Sept. 10, 2006 at Lambeau Field.

(7) Chandler goes deep early
Chris Chandler completed a 76-yard TD pass to Dez White on the game's second play from scrimmage to give the Bears a 7-0 lead en route to a 24-14 victory Dec. 22, 2002 against the Panthers in Carolina.

(6) Forte runs wild
With Todd Collins replacing an injured Jay Cutler at quarterback Oct. 10, 2010 in Carolina, the Bears leaned on running back Matt Forte, who responded with an 18-yard TD run on the Bears' fourth play from scrimmage as well as a 68-yard TD dash later in the first quarter in a 23-6 win.

(5) Trubisky enjoys record day
Mitchell Trubisky threw the first of a team-record five first-half TD passes, a 39-yarder to Trey Burton on the Bears' first possession, as they raced to a 38-3 halftime lead en route to a 48-10 thrashing of the Buccaneers Sept. 30, 2018 at Soldier Field.

(4) Montgomery provides instant boost
David Montgomery's 80-yard touchdown run on the Bears' first play from scrimmage last Sunday at Soldier Field gave them an early 7-0 lead en route to a convincing 36-7 victory over the Texans. Montgomery's run is tied for the fourth longest in franchise history.

(3) Manning takes it to the house
Danieal Manning returned the opening kickoff 83 yards for a touchdown in an eventual 27-24 overtime win over the Saints on Thursday Night Football Dec. 11, 2008 at Soldier Field.

(2) Cutler hits Olsen deep
The first post-season passing attempt of Jay Cutler's NFL career resulted in a 58-yard TD to Greg Olsen on the Bears' third play from scrimmage in a 35-24 divisional win over the Seahawks Jan. 16, 2011 at Soldier Field.

(1) Hester races into history books
Devin Hester became the first player in NFL history to return the opening kickoff of a Super Bowl for a touchdown Feb. 4, 2007 when he dashed 92 yards for a score in an eventual 29-17 loss to the Colts in Super Bowl XLI.
