Top 10: Individual playoff performances
With a wild card game against the Saints looming Sunday, senior writer Larry Mayer ranks the Bears' top 10 individual playoff performances he's witnessed.

(10) Dennis McKinnon, receiver
January 5, 1986
The scrappy receiver caught touchdown passes of 23 and 20 yards from Jim McMahon, both in the third quarter, to lead the eventual Super Bowl XX champion Bears to a 21-0 win over the Giants in a 1985 divisional playoff game at Soldier Field.

(9) Allen Robinson II, receiver
January 6, 2019
Robinson set Bears playoff receiving records with 10 catches for 143 yards in a 16-15 wild-card loss to the Eagles at Soldier Field. Robinson's 22-yard touchdown reception gave the Bears a 15-10 lead early in the fourth quarter before Philadelphia rallied to win with a last-minute TD.

(8) Tom Waddle, receiver
December 29, 1991
In one of the most courageous performances in Bears history, Waddle was knocked out of a first-round playoff game against the Cowboys on big hits on three separate occasions but kept returning, catching nine passes for 104 yards and one TD in a 17-13 loss.

(7) Devin Hester, return specialist
February 4, 2007
Hester became the first player in NFL history to return the opening kickoff of a Super Bowl for a touchdown when he dashed 92 yards for a score in an eventual 29-17 loss to the Colts in Super Bowl XLI in Miami.

(6) Robbie Gould, kicker
January 14, 2007
In a 2006 divisional playoff game against the Seahawks at Soldier Field, Gould booted a 41-yard field goal to tie the score 24-24 with 4:24 left in the fourth quarter and then drilled a 49-yard field goal in overtime to give the Bears a 27-24 victory.

(5) Richard Dent, defensive end

Dent fueled a dominant defensive effort, recording three of the Bears' seven sacks of Joe Theismann in a 23-19 divisional win over the defending NFC champions in Washington.

(4) Walter Payton, running back
December 30, 1984
The legendary Hall of Famer rushed for 104 yards on 24 carries and threw a 19-yard touchdown pass to tight end Pat Dunsmore to lead the Bears to a 23-19 upset road win over Washington in the 1984 divisional playoffs.

(3) Richard Dent, defensive end
January 5, 1986
Dent set a Bears playoff record that still stands with 3.5 sacks of Phil Simms in a 21-0 divisional win over the Giants at Soldier Field that sent the eventual Super Bowl XX champions into the NFC title game against the Los Angeles Rams.

(2) Jay Cutler, quarterback
January 16, 2011
Cutler led the Bears to a 35-24 divisional win over the Seahawks at Soldier Field, becoming the first NFL quarterback since Otto Graham in 1955 to throw for two touchdowns and run for two TDs in a postseason game. Cutler threw for 274 yards and posted a passer rating of 111.3.

January 27, 2007
Jones helped the Bears advance to Super Bowl XLI by rushing for 123 yards and two touchdowns on 19 carries in a 39-14 win over the Saints in the 2006 NFC title game at Soldier Field.
