NFL Draft: Postcards with Colston Loveland | April 24
As told to Gabby Hajduk
Tight end Colston Loveland, the newest Bear and No. 10 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, checks in from across the country in Idaho to share his emotions on being drafted, what his younger self would think right now and his message to Bears fans.
What's up Bears fans,
It's your newest Bear, Colston Loveland, checking in from my hometown — Gooding, Idaho — and I can't wait to get to Chicago,
As soon that call popped up out of nowhere, I felt the excitement. Ryan Poles was on the other end and I heard the news I'd been drafted while I was surrounded by 150 of my family and friends.
To share such a big moment with them was super cool. Everyone in my life has shown so much support, so I wouldn't want it any other way than to have them here to celebrate. It takes a village to be successful and I just appreciate them so much.
It all feels like a blur, but I think I stood up and hugged my older brother first. He's one of my mentors, so that felt special.
I'm super blessed and super glad to be a Bear. I felt like my meetings with them went well and everything just molded together from there. I'm so ready to go out and win games for this team.
It'll definitely take time to process all the emotions, but all I can feel right now is excitement – excitement to take on this next part of the journey. I know it's gonna be tough, it's the NFL, so it's the best of the best.
But I'm gonna go in there with my head down and grind, because this has always been the dream. Just thinking about how far I've come, I know my younger self would be very proud right now.
It would mean everything to him. I'm sure he'd also tell me to keep going, that this is just the start.
And to you all, Bears fans, just know you're getting a heck of a player and a heck of a person. I'm gonna give everything I've got to this organization. I'll do everything I can to win games. Anything I'm asked to do, I'm ready to do it.
See you all soon. Bear Down!
Colston
