Injury Update: Bears rule two players out of Thanksgiving Day game

The Bears on Wednesday ruled safety Elijah Hicks (ankle) and offensive lineman Ryan Bates (concussion) out of Thursday's Thanksgiving Day game in Detroit.

Both players missed last Sunday's contest against the Vikings after suffering their injuries a week earlier versus the Packers. Hicks had made five straight starts in place of veteran Jaquan Brisker, who has been sidelined since sustaining a concussion in a Week 5 win over the Panthers.

Making his first start of the season in place of Hicks last Sunday, Jonathan Owens registered eight tackles and generated a key takeaway when he forced and recovered an Aaron Jones fumble on a second-and-goal play from the 1. Owens also had an interception that was nullified by a penalty.

Hicks and Bates are the only players on the Bears' injury report this week.
