Here are some notable numbers and stats from the Bears' 21-16 loss to the Indianapolis Colts Sunday at Lucas Oil Stadium.
26
Interceptions by the Bears defense since the start of the 2023 season, most in the NFL. Linebacker Tremaine Edmunds and cornerback Jaylon Johnson picked off passes Sunday, increasing the unit's total to four in three games this season. Last year the Bears tied the 49ers for tops in the league with 22.
4
Interceptions by Johnson over the last eight regular-season games dating back to last season, tied for the most in the NFL with Bears teammate Tyrique Stevenson, the Packers' Xavier McKinney and the Seahawks' Julian Love.
5
Interceptions by Edmunds since the start of the 2023 season, tied for the most in the NFL among linebackers with the 49ers' Fred Warner. Edmunds' 10 picks since 2017 are tied with former Bear Roquan Smith for second most by a linebacker behind the Bengals' Logan Wilson, who has 11.
363
Passing yards by Caleb Williams, the most by a Bears quarterback since Oct. 9, 2016, when Brian Hoyer threw for 392 yards in a 29-23 loss to the Colts. Ironically, that was the last time the Bears had played in Indianapolis before Sunday. Williams' 363 yards are the most by a Bears rookie since at least 1970.
10
Receptions by tight end Cole Kmet, tying a career high. Kmet also had 10 catches last Oct. 29 against the Chargers in Los Angeles. Kmet's 97 yards Sunday were the second most in his five NFL seasons behind only the 107 yards he compiled on four catches last Dec. 31 in a 37-17 win over the Falcons at Soldier Field.
17
Field goals of at least 50 yards by Cairo Santos as a member of the Bears, the second most in franchise history behind Robbie Gould's 23. Santos had been tied with Kevin Butler with 16. After missing a 56-yard attempt Sunday, Santos made a 53-yarder to cut the Bears' deficit to 7-3 early in the second half. From 50 yards and beyond Santos is now 4-of-5 (80.0%) in 2024 and 15-of-18 (83.3%) the past three seasons after converting 3-of-12 (25.0%) the previous five years.
3
Bears players who amassed at least 70 yards receiving: Rome Odunze (112), Kmet (97) and DJ Moore (78). It's the first time the Bears have had three receivers with at least 70 yards since Sept. 30, 2018, in a 48-10 win over the Buccaneers at Soldier Field when Tarik Cohen (121), Taylor Gabriel (104) and Trey Burton (86) did it.
271
Games that Marcedes Lewis has now played in his 19-year NFL career, tying Jason Witten for the most by a tight end in league history. Lewis had been tied with Hall of Famer Tony Gonzalez for second with 270.
7
Consecutive games the Bears have played against AFC opponents, including the preseason. They faced the Texans, Bills, Bengals and Chiefs in the preseason and have played the Titans, Texans and Colts the first three weeks of the regular season. That streak will end Sunday when the Bears host the Rams at Soldier Field.
