Here are some notable numbers and stats from the Bears' Thanksgiving Day matchup with the Detroit Lions:
232
Consecutive pass attempts without an interception by quarterback Caleb Williams, an NFL rookie record and the longest stretch by any Bears player in franchise history. The NFL rookie record was previously held by Cardinals QB Kyler Murray who went 211 consecutive pass attempts without an interception in 2019.
Williams broke the mark on the Bears' opening drive of the third quarter, ending with a 31-yard touchdown pass to receiver Keenan Allenand reaching 212 attempts without a pick. The No. 1 overall selection also became the first Bears rookie QB to go six straight starts without throwing an interception since at least 1950 and the first Bears passer to do so in six straight games since Brian Hoyer in 2016.
14
Passing touchdowns by Williams this season, a new franchise record among rookie quarterbacks. Williams passed the mark previously set by Charlie O'Rourke (11 touchdowns) in 1942 on that same 31-yard score to Allen.
The No. 1 overall pick went on to throw two more touchdowns — a 9-yard completion to Allen and a 31-yard connection to receiver DJ Moore – to move his season total to 14. His three second-half passing TDs are tied for the most by any player in the NFL this season.
5
Multi-passing touchdown performances for Williams this season, the most by a rookie quarterback in franchise history and the most by a Bears passer in a single season since 2018 when Mitchell Trubisky accomplished the feat seven times.
30
Fourth-quarter points totaled by the Bears over the last two weeks, the most in the NFL. After trailing 16-0 at halftime, Williams and the Bears offense fought back by scoring 20 second-half points, including 13 in the final period. Last Sunday against the Vikings, Williams led the Bears to 17 fourth-quarter points, including 11 in the final :22 of regulation to force overtime.
5
Red-zone takeaways by the Bears defense this season, tied for most in the NFL along with the Steelers and Colts. Late in the first half, Lions quarterback Jared Goff connected with running back Jahmyr Gibbs for a 13-yard gain to reach the Chicago 6, where cornerback Tyrique Stevenson knocked the ball out. Defensive tackle Gervon Dexter Sr. caught the ball out of the air, handing the Lions their first lost fumble at home in exactly one year.
The Bears now have 19 takeaways this season, which is tied for sixth-most in the league. They also hold the third highest turnover margin in the NFL at +10.
5.0
Sacks for Dexter this season, a career-best for the second-year pro. The Florida product took down Goff for a loss of nine yards on third-and-9 in the second quarter, holding the Lions to a 36-yard field goal. Among interior defensive linemen in the NFC, Dexter's 5.0 sacks rank in the top 5. In addition to the sack and fumble recovery, Dexter registered a season-high seven tackles in Detroit.
48.3 yards
Gross punting average by rookie Tory Taylor this season, which currently stands as the best single-season average in franchise history (minimum 30 punts). Against the Lions, Taylor netted a gross average of 55.8 yards per punt, which is the third highest by a Bears punter in a single game since at least 1960 (minimum four punts).
