caleb-btn-2024-week-6

Here are some notable numbers and stats from the Bears' 35-16 win over the Jaguars Sunday at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London:

79.3

Caleb Williams' completion percentage, the best by a Bears rookie quarterback in a game since at least 1970. The No. 1 overall pick in the draft connected on 23 of 29 passes for 226 yards and four touchdowns. In the process, he became the NFL's first rookie quarterback since 2000 to pass for at least 210 yards and four TDs with a completion percentage of at least 75 in a game.

68

Years since the Bears last scored at least five offensive touchdowns in back-to-back games in the same season. The unit produced five TDs Sunday and five TDs last weekend versus the Panthers, the first time the Bears have accomplished that since 1956. Their five touchdowns in London came on a span of six possessions beginning in the second quarter. After mustering only one TD in the first 11 quarters of the offense, the offense has generated 15 TDs in the last 13 quarters.

12

Consecutive games the Bears have held their opponents to 21 points or fewer, the longest active streak in the NFL. It's the longest streak for the Bears since they also held 12 straight opponents to 21 points or fewer in 2005.

18

Years since the Bears won back-to-back games by at least 19 points. They defeated the Panthers by 26 points (36-10) last weekend and the Jaguars by 19 points (35-16) Sunday. The last time that happened was Oct. 1 and 8, 2006, when they beat the Seahawks by 31 (37-6) and the Bills by 33 (40-7) in a season that culminated in a Super Bowl appearance.

124.4

Williams' passer rating Sunday, the second highest by a Bears rookie quarterback in a game since at least 1970. The only better mark came last weekend when Williams posted a 126.2 rating against the Panthers.

54

Years since the Bears last had two players with at least two touchdown receptions in a game. Keenan Allen and Cole Kmet both had two TD catches Sunday, the first time that's happened since Nov. 22, 1970, when Dick Gordon and Jim Seymour each had two TD receptions from Bobby Douglass in a 31-13 win over the Bills at Wrigley Field. Sunday's TDs were Allen's first with the Bears.

3

Reserve defensive backs who played key roles filling in for injured starters. Cornerback Jaylon Jones, who started in place of Tyrique Stevenson (calf) led the Bears with a career-high 10 tackles. Safety Elijah Hicks, who replaced Jaquan Brisker (concussion), had five tackles, one pass breakup and one fumble recovery. And when nickel back Kyler Gordon exited with a hamstring injury early in the second half, replacement Josh Blackwell entered the game and intercepted a Trevor Lawrence pass.

19

Years since an NFL player scored a touchdown and then snapped on the extra point. Kmet did it twice Sunday, becoming the first player to do it since the Eagles' Mike Bartrum in 2005. Kmet was called upon to snap after Scott Daly was sidelined late in the first quarter with a knee injury he sustained covering a punt.

265 and 3,467

Third-down receptions and yards, respectively, Allen has accumulated in his NFL career, the most among active players in both categories. The 12th-year pro caught three passes for 30 yards and one TD on third down Sunday.

18

Career TD receptions by Kmet, tying Desmond Clark for the third most by a Bears tight end, trailing only Hall of Famer Mike Ditka (34) and Greg Olsen (20).

11

Years since the Bears last scored at least 35 points in back-to-back games. With 36 points last weekend against the Panthers and 35 Sunday versus the Jaguars, they accomplished the feat for the first time since beating the Cowboys 45-28 and Browns 35-31 Dec. 9 and 15, 2013.

3

Consecutive games in which D'Andre Swift has compiled at least 100 yards from scrimmage, the first Bears player to do so since David Montgomery in 2020. Swift produced 119 yards Sunday, rushing for 91 yards and one TD on 17 carries and catching four passes for 28 yards.

61.5

Average yards of Tory Taylor's two punts, the highest by a Bears player with multiple punts in a game since at least 1948. The previous high average of 57.5 yards was set by Maury Buford in the 1985 season opener, a 38-28 victory over the Buccaneers. Taylor's two punts Sunday came on the Bears' first two possessions and traveled 64 and 59 yards.

2

Players to have a reception in 19 or more NFL seasons. With a two-yard catch Sunday, tight end Marcedes Lewis joined Pro Football Hall of Fame receiver Jerry Rice has the only two players to accomplish that feat. Rice had at least one catch in 20 NFL seasons.

9

Consecutive home games the Bears have won, the longest active streak in the NFL. (The Bears were designated the home team Sunday even though the game was played 4,000 miles from Chicago). It's also the Bears' longest streak since they won 10 straight home games in 2005-06. They won their final five home contests last year, beating the Raiders, Panthers, Lions, Cardinals and Falcons, and have won their first four home games this season over the Titans, Rams, Panthers and Jaguars.

4

Regular-season games the Bears have played outside the United States. Prior to Sunday's win, they beat the Bills in Toronto in 2010, defeated the Buccaneers in London in 2011 and lost to the Raiders in London in 2019.
