By the Numbers: Bears' 2024 season

caleb-btn-2024-week-11

Here are some notable numbers and stats from the Bears' 2024 season:

4,030

Combined passing and rushing yards produced by rookie quarterback Caleb Williams, the most by a player in Bears history. The No. 1 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft set franchise rookie records for pass attempts (562), completions (351), completion percentage (62.5), touchdown passes (20), passer rating (87.8) and rushing yards by a quarterback (489).

353

Consecutive passes without an interception by Williams from Weeks 6-17, the fourth longest stretch in a single season in NFL history. The only quarterbacks with longer streaks are Aaron Rodgers (402 in 2018), Tom Brady (399 in 2022) and Justin Herbert (357 in 2024). Williams' six interceptions this year were tied for the fewest by a Bears quarterback with at least 10 starts in a season. He contributed to an offense that committed only 16 turnovers, the fewest by the Bears since at least 1941.

2

NFL teams that had three receivers compile at least 700 yards. The Bears joined the Colts as the only clubs to accomplish that feat via DJ Moore (966), Keenan Allen (744) and Rome Odunze (734). Moore set a career high with 98 receptions—two more than he had in 2023—and scored six touchdowns. Allen caught 70 passes and led the Bears with seven TDs. And Odunze joined Hall of Fame tight end Mike Ditka as the only rookies in Bears history to amass at least 50 receptions and 700 yards.

1,345

Scrimmage yards generated by running back D'Andre Swift, a career high. The fifth year pro rushed for 959 yards and six TDs on 253 carries and caught 42 passes for 386 yards. Swift had three rushing TDs of at least 35 yards this season, the third most in the NFL behind the Eagles' Saquon Barkley (5) and the Bills' James Cook (4) and tied for the second most by a Bears player since at least 1925.

47

Receptions by Cole Kmet, increasing his career total to 258, the second most by a Bears tight end behind Ditka's 316. Kmet ranks third among Bears tight ends with 19 TDs behind Ditka (34) and Greg Olsen (20). Kmet's 19 TDs since 2022 are tied for the fourth most among NFL tight ends behind the 49ers' George Kittle (25), the Ravens' Mark Andrews (22) and the Chiefs' Travis Kelce (20).

46.0

Percentage of red-zone drives that resulted in touchdowns against the Bears defense (14 of 29), the second best rate in the NFL behind the Chargers (45.0%). The Bears also generated five red-zone takeaways, tied for the third most in the league.

2

Consecutive Pro Bowls for cornerback Jaylon Johnson, who started all 17 games and compiled 53 tackles, two interceptions, eight pass breakups, seven tackles-for-loss and one forced fumble. Johnson's late interception sealed a 24-17 win over the Titans in the season opener and his forced fumble resulted in a key takeaway in a 24-22 victory over the Packers in the finale.

130

Tackles registered by safety Kevin Byard III, a career high and the most by a Bears defender. Byard had one interception, increasing his career total to 29, tied for the second most in the league since 2017 behind Falcons safety Justin Simmons' 30. Byard has started 138 straight games, the third longest active streak by an NFL defensive back behind Vikings safety Harrison Smith (192) and Saints safety Tyrann Mathieu (161).

8

Field goals of at least 50 yards by Cairo Santos. The veteran kicker broke the Bears record of seven he tied in 2023 when he drilled a game-winning 51-yarder as time expired to beat the Packers in the season finale in Green Bay. Santos made 21 of 25 field-goal attempts this year, including 8 of 9 from 50 yards and beyond. His 21 field goals of 50+ yards in six seasons with the Bears are the second most in franchise history behind Robbie Gould's 21.

47.7 and 41.6

Rookie punter Tory Taylor's gross and net averages, respectively, both Bears records. Taylor's 34 punts inside-the-20 were the fourth most in the NFL this season and the most by a rookie in franchise history.

24

Takeaways generated by the Bears, tied for the 10th most in the NFL. That included 13 fumble recoveries, tied for the fourth most in the league. Nine different players registered an interception, led by cornerbacks Johnson and Tyrique Stevenson, who had two apiece.

31.9

Average yards by DeAndre Carter on 15 kickoff returns, the second best rate in the NFL behind the Cowboys' KaVontae Turpin's 33.5 (among players with at least 15 returns). Carter also averaged 9.3 yards on 17 punt returns.

19,470

Miles traveled by the Bears this season, the most in franchise history. The 2024 schedule included road games in London, Arizona and San Francisco.
