By the Numbers: Bears' Week 18 win over Packers

caleb-btn-2024-week-18

The Bears snapped their losing streak to the rival Packers Sunday at Lambeau Field. Take a look at some of the notable stats and numbers from the 24-22 victory:

1st

Game-winning drive for quarterback Caleb Williams, who started all 17 games this season, the most by any rookie in franchise history and the first time a Bears quarterback has started every game in a season since Jay Cutler in 2009.

Williams led the Bears on a 6-play, 47-yard drive — featuring a 15-yard pass to receiver Rome Odunze and an 18-yard completion to receiver DJ Moore — that culminated in Cairo Santos' field goal as time expired.

94

Yards traveled by Josh Blackwell on his punt return touchdown — the first of his career. It marked the first punt return TD for the Bears since 2021 when receiver Jakeem Grant had a 97-yard return to the end zone, also in Green Bay.

The 94-yard score is tied for the third-longest punt return TD for the Bears since at least 1948 and tied for the second-longest in the NFL this season.

51 yards

Distance of Santos' game-winning field goal. The kick marked Santos' career-best eighth made field goal of 50-plus yards this season, which is also a single-season franchise record.

2

Forced fumbles and fumble recoveries by the Bears defense, bringing their season total to 13, which is tied for third-most in the league. Cornerback Jaylon Johnson used the "Peanut Punch" to force the first fumble, which safety Jonathan Owens recovered — his second of the season.

Safety Kevin Byard III recorded his first career strip-sack in the third quarter, forcing a fumble that was recovered by linebacker Tremaine Edmunds.

14

Tackles recorded by Byard — a team high. The 9-year veteran joined the Vikings' Harrison Smith as the only two defensive backs over the age of 30 to have at least 14 tackles, one sack and one forced fumble in a single game in the last decade.

9

Receptions by Moore, a season-high for the seventh-year pro. Moore finished as the Bears' top pass-catcher against the Packers, hauling in all but one of his targets for 86 yards and a touchdown.

113

Kickoff return yards by receiver Tyler Scott, a career high. Scott returned four kicks against the Packers, including a long of 36 yards just before halftime.

3

Sacks by the Bears defense against Packers' backup quarterback Malik Willis, who took over for an injured Jordan Love in the second quarter. Along with Byard's sack-fumble, linebacker T.J. Edwards also dropped Willis for a loss of six yards in the fourth quarter and defensive tackle Byron Cowart recorded a one-yard sack on the Packers' following possession.
